Implementing Privileged Access Workstations (PAW)

If you can RDP into a server or a jump server from any computer in your network, you are in trouble and you should join this training!

One concept to deploy in any modern environment is the Concept of Privileged Access Workstations. We simply cannot allow _any_ computer to take down the whole company or have access to resources that can. A normal end-user computer can access the Internet and can not be thus used to manage the environment. A separate workstation, that cannot access the Internet and is better secured and more controlled, is to be used for managing the environment. We simply cannot combine potential access to malicious content and management into the same device.

The PAW is the missing component that makes a properly tiered Active (or Azure Active) Directory secure and easy to manage!

Join, Sami Laiho, a world leading security expert, in this webinar and learn how he manages different sized environments and deploys the concept of Privileged Access Workstations.

Azure AD Conditional Access demystified

In July 2016 Microsoft made Conditional Access generally available. Since that time I had a love and hate relationship with this functionality of Azure AD. Mainly because it's difficult to test scenario's and some changes can have a really high impact. I even experienced being locked out of accessing the Azure portal during one of my tests. In this session I will share my experiences about implementing Conditional Access at several customers, I will explain what went wrong so you don’t have to make the same mistakes. I further will cover how to design, implement, test and troubleshoot Conditional Access policies and last but not least, I will share my own Conditional Access policy baseline which I use as a starting point for every implementation. Managed Identity for Hackers and Developers

There are so many managed cloud services today, it can be hard to follow what each is used for. This makes access management a critical area on which cloud security professionals should focus.

Managed identities provide an identity for applications to use when connecting to resources that support Azure Active Directory authentication.

As with any identity, this must be configured correctly, otherwise the identity may be compromised and the malicious actor can gain privileged access.

Session contains:
- Dive into Managed Identity and JWT tokens
- Azure resources enumeration
- Getting access to blob storage using compromised identity
- Retrieving Azure Key Vault secrets
- Extract data from SQL Database

Demystify Azure AD workload identities

Identities of apps and services (workloads) are gaining privileged access and are used on a wide scale (especially in DevOps or large high-automated environments).
Attack techniques (for example, in case of NOBELIUM attacks) has shown that service principals will be used for initial and persistent access (to create a "backdoor" in Azure AD).
Securing credentials, limit and detecting suspicious access or managing lifecycle of workload identities can be a challenge.

Security concepts of privileged user account can not be (fully) applied to non-human identities and would be limited applicable.
Strictly monitoring and classification of this types of identities are often neglected in the past.

In this session, I like to give an overview about the different types of workload identities, common (sensitive) use cases and how attacks or abuse can be mitigated of the different phases in the lifecycle.

- What is a workload identity?
- Different types of workload identities in Azure AD
- Common and real-world use cases
- Management of lifecycle and visibility
- Securing delegated management by Azure AD RBAC
- Monitoring and detection to prevent privilege escalation
- Securing access and protection of workload identities
(by Azure AD Conditional Access and Identity Protection)

Creating the path for mobile devices to on-premises resources

Nowadays on-premises apps and resources are still part of the infrastructure of most organizations. Creating a path to those resources was always challenging on mobile devices, until the arrival of Microsoft Tunnel. Microsoft Tunnel provides a simple VPN gateway solution for Microsoft Intune that completely integrates with Azure AD. That solution allows access to on-premises resources from iOS, iPadOS and Android devices. In this session I want to make sure that you get familiar with Microsoft Tunnel as the path for mobile devices to on-premises resources. That you are known with the requirements and the implementation. That you know about the sweet single sign-on behavior and Conditional Access. That you understand it's use case and - more importantly - that you understand when not to use it. A great session to get started with Microsoft Tunnel.

The fine print of managing your devices with Intune

Most enterprises have a lot of experience in managing Windows devices using traditional like Active Directory, Group Policy and Configuration Manager. Many organizations have either started using or use cloud services like Azure Active Directory, Autopilot, and Intune to manage their Windows devices.

According to the sales and marketing pitch, moving to cloud-based management is very easy, in reality plenty of hurdles exist. Certain elements around management are easier when they're cloud delivered, but some things are more complex with the cloud infra. In this session we will cover what fundamental changes cloud services bring to the workstation management. We'll detail the different skill set needed to transition your IT processes.

Both speakers have been involved with PC management for a couple of decades, you can expect them to give you the necessary perspective around traditional Windows management versus the new cloud-based management.

Windows Always On VPN and Autopilot: Better Together!

Windows Autopilot is rapidly becoming a popular solution for device deployment in many organizations. Using Autopilot, administrators can provision Windows 10 or 11 to a device anywhere in the world. Using the Intune Connector for Active Directory, joining these endpoints to their on-premises Active Directory (Hybrid Azure AD join) is supported. To support this, administrators can deploy the Windows Always On VPN device tunnel to provide essential pre-login connectivity to support initial client login without cached credentials. In this session, you will learn the requirements for deploying the Windows Always On VPN device tunnel during the Autopilot provisioning process. In addition, you will understand important limitations when enabling Hybrid Azure AD and how to overcome them with custom deployment options.

Deploying On-premises Certificates using Intune

As cloud adoption grows, many organizations move away from classic on-premises Active Directory and group policy endpoint management to cloud-native management using Azure Active Directory and Intune. However, many scenarios still require certificates issued by an internal Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). Fortunately, Intune offers support for deploying certificates to Intune-managed devices from an on-premises issuing Certification Authority (CA). In this session, you will learn about the two options for deploying certificates using Intune: PKCS and SCEP. We’ll explore both options and learn how to configure endpoints for certificate enrollment using either solution properly.

Azure AD Authentication and Conditional Access Deep-dive

Proving a user's identity and ensuring that user's access is compliant with your organisation's required policies is key to securing M365, Azure AD, and Azure B2C environments. Whenever you access an application protected by Azure AD, the user will be authenticated and then allowed or denied access based on the evaluation of conditional access policies. How does the flow work? When are and how often are authentication and conditional access policies checked?
Come to this session, and John Craddock will dig into the details of authentication and conditional access policies. He will also explain how Conditional Access Evaluation improves response time to changes in security. A session not to be missed; it will set you on the path to a more secure future.

What is this Modern Authentication everyone is talking about?

Microsoft has announced that they will stop the usage of Legacy Authentication for Exchange Online in H2 2021. Legacy authentication must be replaced by Modern authentication.

In this session Erik Loef and Kenneth van Surksum will explain what Legacy - and Modern authentication is and why legacy authentication is bad and should therefore be phased out.

They will also explain how you can detect whether Legacy authentication is still in use within your environment, and what you can do to start phasing out legacy authentication and transition to Modern authentication instead. Erik and Kenneth will explain and prove that Modern Authentication alone isn't enough though.

They will also share a possible project approach, and lessons learned - so that you don't have to make the mistakes that we made during our enrollments.

At the end of the session, we want attendees to be aware of this upcoming change and give them the necessary information in order to start phasing out legacy authentication and optimize their security posture within their own environment.

Coming up! Guided hunting & Disrupt in M365D

This session will cover two new concepts being introduced in M365D:

- Guided hunting: Advanced hunting in Microsoft 365 Defender is a powerful tool, which requires knowledge of KQL and understanding the datasets in M365D. With the new guided hunting experience, we aim to make hunting available to all analysts at all knowledge level.

- Disrupt: Disrupt is an automated response to contain an attack as early as possible following a high-confidence attack detection that is based on cross-workload signals. It enables analysts to quickly identify and investigate attack evidence and compromised assets for additional remediation while the attack is disrupted.

Be a shepherd for your data. Protect- and prevent data leaks, it's that simple!

In a digitizing society more and more data is becoming available within the Microsoft 365 cloud today. Although we require devices to be compliant to synchronize data, users and guests are still able to download or copy data via the browser to unmanaged devices which is resulting in data leaks. During this session you'll learn how you can successfully prevent these scenarios with the use of Defender for Cloud Apps and make sure your data is protected against 'accidental' data leaks. We will show you how to configure Defender for Cloud Apps, what options are available to you and will 'leak' some live demos. After this session you'll have a clear understanding for which scenarios you're able to use Defender for Cloud Apps and how to configure this in your own environment.

Attack Surface Reduction rules... your best ally against ransomware!

"Your files have been encrypted! To decrypt the files, follow the following instructions…" Behind this dreaded message is much more than the cybercriminal sending it. The deployment of ransomware is often the most visible (and painful) step in a much larger process, in which many criminal actors and activities together form a complex whole. It often drives organizations to desperation. Each stage of the ransomware kill chain offers opportunities to intervene, both offensive as well as defensive. In this session we'll focus on the defensive side and learn about reducing attack surfaces by detecting and preventing kill-chain attacks at an early stage with the use of Attack Surface Reduction rules.

After this session you're on par with the latest updates on ASR rules, guidance on how to use them effectively (we don't accept audit mode) and to gain insights with the help of advanced hunting. This is a must visit session for IT pro's who wants to break the ransomware kill chain!

Remote Access with Secure Workstations in AVD

How do we give external consultants and developers a secure, trusted (and simple) remote access to our environment? This is a common question from many organizations. Access is often based on VPN and it´s not uncommon with hours of config and setup before first contact can be established. Secure and trusted, yes. But simple No way! So why not use AVD as the Remote access solution? In this session Mr T-Bone (MVP) will walk you through how to setup a Secure Workstation for Remote Access in Azure Virtual Desktop. And as a bonus, it will probably be more secure, trusted and pretty simple to access. A new consultant can be up and running in no time. In the end it will save you lots of cost and effort.

Running AVD onPrem made easy using Azure Stack HCI. Or is it?

Azure Virtual Desktop (and all its previous names 😊) has been an Azure Service from day 1. It also enforced you to run your Sessionhosts on the Azure platform, so any AVD host was a VM in your Azure Subscription.

With the start of Azure Stack HCI, Microsoft has made it possible that you use your on-premises hardware to create a hybrid environment that combines on-premises infrastructure with Azure cloud services.

A logic next step is bringing AVD onPrem, using that Azure Stack HCI hybrid infrastructure.

But the question is, is it as good as running on Azure?

Join our session to see the goods and bads on this new way of delivering AVD

Solving Microsoft's problems in a cloud-only world

Microsoft Azure AD and Intune/MEM are here to stay. But there are still excuses why companies stick to AD or other legacy technologies. After about half a million pure-play cloud clients, we can say that cloud ecosystems are 100% possible, most easily with community-driven companions, which we'll introduce in a incredible short 20 minutes:

* Native MEM client/user certificate provisioning without PKI.
* Native cloud RADIUS without NPS/Cisco or other on-prem legacy.
* Automated application lifecycle in single or multi-tenant environments.
* Fail Safe Autopilot.
* Single or multi-tenant M365 operations with managed runbooks.
* LAPS and notifications for Windows and Mac.
